Employer Sponsored Visas

If an Australian company has offered you a job and they are willing to sponsor you there are a number of options available for you.

Employer Sponsored Visas can either be temporary residency visas or permanent residency visas.

Australian Visa Advice is here to support you along the way. We can provide you with an assessment of your eligibility for a visa and support you through the visa application process.

Australian Visa Advice can provide you and your prospective Australian employer professional advice in this area. We can draft and lodge the sponsorship and visa applications on your behalf.

We can help both the employer and employee with Sponsorship, Nominations and Visa Applications.

Some of the common employer sponsored visas are:

Employer Nomination Scheme (EMS) visa (subclass 186)
Permanent visa option
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) enables Australian employers to sponsor highly skilled workers to live and work permanently in Australia.
Whether you are eligible for the temporary resident transition (TRT) stream or the Direct Entry stream option, this employer-nominated visa gives permanent residency to you and your family.

Your occupation must be included in the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL)
The business sponsor must be approved and be actively operating in Australia. They must be willing to offer a full time and on-going position.
The applicant must be under 50 years of age, demonstrate employment experience in the chosen occupation and must have competent English language ability. The applicant may be required to complete a skills assessment.

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) visa (subclass 187)
Permanent Visa Option
The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) enables Australian employers to sponsor skilled workers to live and work in regional areas of Australia for 2 years before they can then reside and work anywhere in Australia permanently.

A regional area simply means a low population growth area. It does not necessarily mean a remote outback area. State capitals such as Perth and Adelaide are classed as regional areas as are large cities such as Cairns in Queensland.

Your occupation must be included in the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL).

The business sponsor must be approved and be actively operating in Australia. They must be willing to offer a full time and on-going position for at least 2 years.

The applicant must have the necessary qualifications for their occupation occupation and have competent English language ability.

TSS Visa (Temporary Skill Shortage Visa)- Subclass 482
Temporary visa option
The TSS visa enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in genuinely skilled workers where they cannot source an appropriately skilled Australian. It facilitates targeted use of overseas workers to address temporary skill shortages.

Applicants must be sponsored by an approved Australian business.

There are two streams for the TSS visa;

Medium and Long Term TSS Visa

There is no age limit for this visa and this stream is eligible for multiple visa renewals and can act as a pathway to permanent residency.

Short Term TSS Visa
Temporary visa valid for up to 2 years.
Occupation must be on STSOL and the applicant must have two years of relevant work experience.

Applicant must have “competent” English.

There is no age limit for this visa and this stream is eligible for a single visa renewal. This visa does not act as a pathway to permanent residency.

Typically the applicant can stay in Australia for no longer than 3 months.
The applicant must be invited by the organisation they will be working for.
